Our Mission.
Tetsushin is dedicated to the physical (hard) and spiritual (soft) evolution of all martial artists united by a singular focus towards preserving and honoring the traditional, while at the same time incorporating and respecting modern-day refinement.
We believe that knowledge is power. A martial artist should not restrict themselves to one way, one art, one form or one method. In feudal Japan, the samurai were not only experts in sword play, they were masters at hand-to-hand combat. Why would you train in only one aspect of the game, i.e. just grappling or striking? At Tetsushin Martial Arts Academy we believe that, to be a complete martial artist, it is essential that you train in more than just one of the four ranges of fighting; kicking, punching, trapping and grappling. By combining Shohei Ryu Karate and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu we've done just that. These two arts have both been featured on the Discovery Channel as being two of the world's most effective methods of fighting. They compliment each other like no other arts can. Shohei Ryu's devastating leg kicks, strikes, sweeps and body conditioning combined with the battle proven techniques of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu make for an endless of options to take to the streets, the mat, ring or cage.
Tetsushin Martial Arts Academy is affiliated with the Okinawan Karate Do Association and the Chatan Dojo situated in Okinawa JAPAN and is a proud member and chapter of the Royce Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Network.
